BIG IMPACT IN SMALL SPACES

The wide range of Hitachi mini excavators is renowned for its quality and versatility. This has been further enhanced by the KTEG joint venture between Hitachi Construction Machinery Co., Ltd. (HCM) and Kiesel Technology Entwicklung GmbH, and the addition of the latest ZX95US-7 compact machine, manufactured by HCM.

Eight new mini and compact excavators will appear on the Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe) NV (HCME) stand at Bauma. The smallest model is the one-tonne KTEG 10U-6 SL, based on the Hitachi ZX10U-6. It has several new features that enhance operator comfort and safety, such as repositioned joysticks for easy operation, convenient access from either side of the machine’s console, and a new seatbelt.

Based on the Hitachi ZX19U-6 monoboom model, the KTEG 19U-6 2PB MTC offers enhanced versatility with a two-piece boom. This varies the working height of the excavator, making it more suitable for working in confined spaces.

Also highly versatile are the KTEG 23U-6 MTC and ZX26U-6 MTC multi-tool carriers. They are ideal for a wide range of applications, such as urban construction and civil engineering projects – particularly where space is limited.

Greater versatility

The KTEG 23U-6 MTC can be used with heavier front attachments than other machines in its class and has a short-tail swing radius. It can be easily transported by trailer (suitable for 3.5-tonne weight, in compliance with EU road regulations). The renowned Hitachi ZX26U-6 is equipped with a KTEG OQR quick coupler, making it a multi-tool carrier and enabling it to work with attachments capable of 360° rotation.

Based on the Hitachi ZX55U-6 and ZX65USB-6, the KTEG 55U-6 MTC and KTEG 65USB-6 MTC are multi-tool carrier machines with more than ten new functions that make life easier for customers. The 7-inch new colour monitor is controlled by a new jog dial, which can be used to adjust oil flow and pressure for various front attachments.

KTEG has introduced these models to optimise job site efficiency by offering additional functions that don’t require the operator to get in and out of the cab.

KTEG will also introduce its new six-tonne compact excavator, the KTEG 63US-6 2PB MTC. Its two-piece boom extends the working range, which is perfect for working in urban areas, as well as general construction, road construction and landscaping.

The lifting capacity is increased by 30% to carry out heavy duty work, and it has a 20% greater cutting height, and 25% greater dumping height than the standard ZX55U-6, which makes it ideal for loading materials on to trucks.

“We are delighted to showcase such a wide variety of mini and compact excavators at Bauma this year,” says KTEG Product Manager Kousuke Ogihara.

“Versatility is vital for models in this class, and together with HCME, we are excited to show customers how our machines can meet the challenges of any job site.”

Comfort in tight spaces

Completing the line-up at Bauma is the Hitachi ZX95US-7 excavator with twopiece boom. Larger than the ZX85-6 model, the new Zaxis-7 machine is more powerful and offers 10% greater stability and 4% greater digging force.

Life-cycle costs are reduced with the new Stage V-compliant engine, which does not require an SCR system. This eliminates the need for urea, filter replacements and associated maintenance. The all-new ECO gauge also allows operators to control fuel efficiency and reduce costs.

Attachments are quickly changed using the enhanced attachment support system on the LCD monitor and the factory-ready quick hitch system including piping. The compact size, short turning radius, and shorter distance between the bucket and blade, allow the ZX95US-7 to work efficiently and safely in confined areas. Grading and levelling can be completed quickly and easily thanks to the optional floating angle blade.

Easy operation comes from the new ergonomic design of the console and switches, and convenient access to controls. The synchronised motion between the seat and console also ensures operators feel less tired at the end of the working day.

The ultra-spacious ZX95US-7 has an industry-leading, first-class cab, which is easy to access due to a low entry level and wide entrance, and has an improved pedal layout and ample legroom.

To enhance safety, the Aerial Angle camera system provides an exceptional 270-degree bird’s-eye view, and operators can choose from six image options to view the machine’s immediate environment. For superior visibility in low light conditions, the optional ambient light for the camera makes it easier to view, and the lights on the boom and cab have been repositioned to illuminate the job site more effectively.

New options

Two new options for Hitachi compact excavators will be introduced at Bauma. One will enable operators to select pre-set attachment types on the monitor when switching between attachments.

“This reduces set-up time and enhances efficiency,” says HCME Product Manager Norihiko Kinugawa.

The second option is designed to support slope-finishing operations and reduce operator fatigue when a breaker attachment is used. “These new options illustrate how we are constantly reviewing and improving our product offering to make life easier on the job site,” adds Norihiko.
